The show “Rhythm in Motion” by Sheketak creators Danny Rachom & Zahi Patish is an energetic, virtuosic, humoristic multi-media show that combines elements of dance, theatre, live music and video art.
Performed on a big stage with a 3 story high scaffolding and a live band in it, the 12 performers move swiftly between rhythmic musical numbers, different styles of dance and interactive video work,
“Rhythm In Motion” is impossible to categorize… at one point you can see the dancers drumming on their bodies, using sticks and props like pots & pens to create sounds while moving around, and then there would be a free-style, hip-hop up to date choreography that captures the stage backed up with only the sound of the dancers breathing…
The show is built like a journey into the world of sound and visuals, starting out with a simple yet highly developed creation of movement and body percussion and ending with the massive sound of hi-tech illuminated drums, video clips, hip-hop and break-dancing.
The show relies a lot on special light cues, sound design and the interactive use of video,
At times the video is used as white screen for shadows behind it; at times it is used like an instrument where dancers touch it - visuals & sounds appear and much more.
The show’s different styles of dance include; body percussion, tap dance, modern and free-style, hip-hop and break-dance,
The use of mime is also present to communicate different situations to the audience in the international language of humor.
The on stage musical band (drums, bass, keys) accompanies the show with original music and an exciting new sound.
“Rhythm in Motion” has something in it for everyone – The kids and young at heart will love the use of humor and the energetic dancing, the more frequent theatre visitors will enjoy the new ideas and the use of all the elements to show the power of live performance!
